A Call for Information about Long Term Care for Older People in care homes and other kinds of supported accommodation in the UK

The Older People's Programme and the Centre for Policy on Ageing have been commissioned by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation to explore older people's experiences of moving to and living in care homes and other kinds of supported accommodation.

Our focus in this work is on the choice and control that older people have over their lives and the support they need to live their lives. We wish to identify the critical elements of independent living for older people with high support needs.

If you are involved in, or know of, a project or service within the UK which you feel offers, or is planning to offer long term care to older people in an innovative way or in a way which demonstrates particularly good practice, we would very much like to hear from you. We are keen to hear from a whole range of people - older people living in care homes, their relatives and friends, and staff or volunteers who work in organisations which either fund or directly provide long term care for older people. The information which is gathered will be included in a UK wide Scoping Study which is taking place as part of this project. The results of the Scoping Study will be published in Autumn 2007.

Please pass this call on to your other networks and contacts.
