AnnotationStandards of care for people with with dementia living in care homes have been developed through a partnership between the Alzheimer's Society and the Royal college of Nursing (RCN). The author describes the process and outcomes of the joint project, "Developing standards of care using person centred approaches". In a written report of the project work, the following themes emerged: awareness of person-centred philosophy and translating it into day-to-day practice; communication and participation; activity and occupation; and training and skilling of workers.
