Library and Information Service
The Library and Information Service is a unique resource for all people working or researching in the field of older age. For full details of CPA's information resources, please contact the Head of Information.
Reference Library
The Reference Library , which is open to the public by appointment, covers the social, behavioural, health, and to a lesser extent the medical aspects of older age. The library holds the most comprehensive collection of materials on older age matters in the UK. Most of it is UK oriented but there is a growing emphasis on European and US material. The library consists of more than 50,000 items -books, journal articles, government and local authority reports, statistical information, postgraduate theses and so on. Over 400 periodicals are received in the library annually.
CPA aims to ensure that good quality and relevant information is widely accessible to inform research, policy and practice on ageing and old age. Recently, the library facilities have been improved and expanded to meet these aims and offer library visitors an even better service making full use of the latest technology and the Internet.
Information Service
The Information Service makes available information in a variety of forms. Agelnfo CD-ROM provides a single source of easily accessible, relevant and regularly updated
information including CPA's bibliographic database, an international organisations database, a calendar of events database and the fully searchable text of A Better Home Life. AgeInfo subscribers also have internet access to the bibliographic database, updated monthly. The Agelnfo web site (www.cpa.org.uk/ageinfo) provides access to searchable bibliographic databases and links to organisations throughout the world whose work is focused on ageing.
