| Annotation | "Healthy ageing" is often used now to emphasise that ageing is not a disease. Or, as the World Health Organization (WHO) states, "it is not sufficient to add years to life, but the more important objective is to add life to years". While we need to be aware of health disorders and diseases of old age, it is the health-promoting behaviours of physical activity and diet that are essential for healthy ageing. However, India's health care system needs to be strengthened, as primary health care workers have no training in health care for older people. (RH). |
