| Annotation | Differences in life expectancy were analysed by age-sex and deprivation groups in postcode sectors of the Greater Glasgow Health Board area. Life expectancy is increasing in all socioeconomic groups, but particularly in the most affluent. Routine publication of life expectancy values would illustrate more clearly the relationships between health policy and health outcomes, and would demonstrate whether policies are reducing inequalities and improving health generally.
