AnnotationAnnual review of the work of Age Concern nationwide, which adopted its new name in 1971, when it became independent of the National Council of Social Service (NCSS). However, the organisation began in 1940 as the Committee for the Welfare of the Aged, and then in 1955 became known as the National Old People's Welfare Council. This latter name remained its official title as a registered charity until it changed its constitutional title to National Council on Ageing in January 1989.
