AnnotationThe Expert Group was asked by the Department of Health (DH) to advise on the likely effects of climate change on health in the UK. This review is based on data provided by the UK Climate Impacts Programme (UKCIP). It considers public perceptions methodological issues regarding climate change and health. Specific impacts of climate change on human health are examined in depth, including heat and cold related mortality and morbidity, while secondary impacts (e.g. energy supply) are summarised. The report concludes that climate change will have a significant effect on health in the UK; however, a great deal remains unknown, and recommendations are made for further work and research. (RH).
