| Annotation | Age Concern welcomes the principle introduced in "The pension credit: a consultation paper" (Cm 4900, TSO, 2000): older people have long felt that the current system does not reward work and savings. However, although reform is needed, the long-term aim should be to reduce reliance on means-tested support and for increased state pensions. ACE comments on the two parts to the Pension Credit: the "guaranteed income top-up" which will be the equivalent of the Minimum Income Guarantee (MIG), and the "savings credit". (RH). |
