AnnotationThe Chief Inspector's report describes the work of the SSI and developments in the field of the personal social services. This Report is based on a substantial body of evidence gathered over the past year under new arrangements for drawing together all the evidence in relation to each council. The Report particularly notes five areas of concern and progress. The contents include the SSI Inspection findings and performance assessment for older people and concludes that the overall analysis is "cautiously optimistic". It cites several examples of good practice in the field. It promotes the National Service Framework for Older People published in March 2001 which will underpin integrated services across health and social care to improve the lives of older people. (KJ).
