AnnotationAn enduring power of attorney is a document in which a person can appoint one or more other persons (attorneys) to manage his or her property or financial affairs, under the Enduring Powers of Attorney Act 1985. This article is a statistical analysis of objections to enduring powers of attorney, based on data collected from a random sample of 80 of the author's own written decisions. There are five grounds on which donors and their relatives may object to registration of a power: that it is not valid, revoked, premature, undue pressure (or fraud), or is unsuitable. (RH).
