| Annotation | Most older people live and die in ordinary housing in the community. The authors draw on their own user-centred research to examine how housing and housing-related policies might change for the better if the views of older people were heeded. They consider what policy of community care would promote the health and well-being of older people living out their lives in their own homes. Having reviewed the issues, the authors report empirical studies on housing decisions in later life: whether or not to move; maintaining independence and with regard to repair, adaptations and housing design; and living in communal settings.
