AnnotationServices for older people must work together, if they are to meet needs and aspirations effectively. This study looks at the way in which authorities, trusts and other organisations are working together, alongside older people, to promote integrated services in England. It develops the theme that services for older people are not well co-ordinated, which was also explored in previous studies including 'The coming of age', 'Forget me not', and 'The way to go home'. The report describes the processes adopted by 13 case study sites to build a whole system perspective and to take action to implement it. It highlights the elements needed to work as a whole system: a comprehensive range of services, and a mechanism to guide older people through. It outlines the underpinning factors and infrastructures, which enable a whole system approach to develop; and suggests a number of steps to help to get the work started. (RH).
