| Annotation | The EU Council Directive 200/78/EC - commonly called the Employment Directive - established a general framework for equal treatment in employment and vocational training and guidance. The joint ERA/AGE seminar was held with the support of Help the Aged and Age Concern England (ACE). This report outlines presentations and discussions on: protecting fundamental rights; the UK's approach to implementing the Directive; and individuals' experiences of discrimination in employment and other areas. Therefore, a key issue for the conference was the need for comprehensive equality legislation. (RH). |
