Why do we ignore these ethical issues? [rights of those with dementia] | | Author(s) | Janet Cox |
| Journal title | Journal of Dementia Care, vol 11, no 6, Nov/Dec 2003 |
| Pages | pp 25-28 |
| Keywords | Dementia ; Rights [elderly] ; Social ethics ; Literature reviews. |
| Annotation | The author explores how the rights of people with dementia can be overridden and their freedom restricted, even when everyone involved seems to be acting from the best of motives. She observes how the voice of a relative or neighbour can be more powerful than that of a person with dementia. She discusses a range of information sources on person-centred approaches and issues of "personhood" which consider the needs and rights of those with dementia. (RH). |
