AnnotationA short introduction and three articles focus on two global trends: the ageing population, and the use of the internet. These trends combined are considered in relation to a) health literacy; b) functional independence; c) quality of life; and d) social connectedness. Elder-friendly web design that can accommodate age-related impairments are crucial to ensuring that an ageing population can benefit from the widespread use of electronic information and advice, which in turn can contribute to the well-being of older people.
