| Annotation | What does it take to be an outstanding care home? The author highlights an innovative arts initiative that won praise from the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Shadon House, a council-owned dementia resource centre in Gateshead worked in partnership with Equal Arts, by offering activities to people with dementia to use their imaginations and tell each other stories as a shared, sociable and stimulating activity. Some of the sessions were held in different locations, to find out how physical environment affected the stories - and improved the participants' well-being and quality of life. (RH). |
