AnnotationIn 1954, the Manchester and District Advisory Council for Further Education set up a special committee to consider adult education provision in Rochdale and Bolton. Local authority provision, voluntary cultural organisations, political and church activities of an educational nature existing in the two towns was examined by two members of the University of Manchester's extra-mural studies staff.
