AnnotationThe research re-analyses existing data that examined whether health and social services respond differently according to the carer's sex. The main concern was to establish whether men and women were coping with different types and/or degrees of dependency, and whether they received different levels of support. The research was funded by the Department of Health and Social Security (DHSS) and was carried out in the Research Section, Psychogeriatric Unit, University Hospital of South Manchester. (RH).
