AnnotationCare workers in residential care homes provide the majority of the day-to-day care to the residents, yet they are rarely given the opportunity to discuss their attitudes toward their work, the residential care home, and the older residents. This article describes a training package - `Images of residential life' aimed at residential care workers. The package consists of a set of 23 cards, visually displaying various aspects of life in the home, which provides the structure for training sessions for care workers to discuss their work, and to analyse how their attitudes affect the quality of life of the residents. In particular, the training package aims to facilitate discussion of the needs and preferences of older residents, and to promote positive attitudes and positive change in the care home. (AKM).
