KeywordsLuncheon clubs ; Meals on wheels ; Social surveys ; London.
AnnotationThe nutritive value of meals for 107 older people supplied by six kitchens and two luncheon clubs was studied. 91 people answered a questionnaire designed to give their opinions of the meals, as well as information on their socio-economic background. Two-thirds of the sample could be described as being "reasonably content", and the remaining third did not like their meals at all. The report recommends more contact between suppliers and recipients, a meals service confined to those who cannot cater for themselves, meals planned with nutritive values in mind, and advice to recipients on preparation of simple, nutritious meals.
