AnnotationThe conference was organised in association with the British Institute of Management (BIM), the Industrial Welfare Society, the Institute of Directors (IOD), the Institute of Personnel Management (IPM), and the National Council of Social Service (NCSS). Papers presented covered medical aspects; meeting needs for educational facilities, part-time employment, and voluntary service; and how preparation for retirement appeared to be concerned with the well-being of people still in employment. The conference concluded with a resolution calling for the work initiated by the National Old People's Welfare Council to be placed on a permanent basis, and the Preparation for Retirement Committee in association with the NCSS should be authorised to set up an independent organisation and investigate financial support.
