Annotation	The author raises questions about the way in which old age is perceived in our society. Her paper touches on some examples of developments in "educational" (in its broadest sense) provision for, and by, older people. She suggests that they may be important both as a response to the phenomenon of an ageing population, and as indicators of the sorts of changed attitudes to old age which we need to develop.
