Annotation	The purpose of this survey is to examine company policies on retirement; to see whether increased emphasis on company responsibility towards employees has led to policy changes; and to attempt to gain more understanding of the way managers think about retirement. The report is based on data from two postal surveys: a questionnaire on current company practice returned by 427 companies, and a questionnaire on attitudes to retirement returned by 237 managers. Information was supplemented by personal interviews with managers and organisations concerned with retirement policy. (RH).
