AnnotationThe Committee reviewed trends in and adequacy of rural bus services, and concluded that the existing and probable future levels of service were not adequate to avoid a degree of hardship and inconvenience sufficient to call for special measures. The Committee recommended a system mainly of direct financial assistance, partly from local and central sources, to be administered through County Councils. (RH).
