Annotation"Gofal", meaning care in Welsh, is the name given to the rural replication on Anglesey of the Kent Community Care Project (KCCP). This paper outlines the principles and practice of Gofal, the development of the associated research, and the problems and issues arising from it being a replication study. The project is a collaborative venture between the research teams of the Personal Social Services Research Unit (PSSRU) of the University of Kent at Canterbury and the Social Services in Rural Areas Research Project (SSRAF) at the University College of North Wales (UCNW).
