AnnotationThis survey was run in the nine countries of the European Community at the request of the Directorate-General for Employment and Social Affairs of the Commission of the European Communities, as part of the Euro-Barometer series of opinion polls. Questions were asked on the themes of: feelings about retirement; intentions as things stand; attitude to the possibility of paying extra contributions so as to be able to retire early; opinions on a transitional period between full time work and total retirement; and how lowering the retirement age would rank in a series of improvements to the standard of living.
