AnnotationThis research explores benefit take-up by older people by means of qualitative discussions in groups and with individuals. Results of a postal survey of the Scottish Old Age Pensions Association (SOAPA) membership in Edinburgh which collected basic information about levels of household income, and awareness and take-up of benefits are presented in an appendix. The report concludes that there is a need for improved take-up of benefit through better information, easier claiming mechanisms, and overcoming older people's reluctance to claim.
