| Annotation | The 1997 Health Education Monitoring Survey (HEMS) is a follow-up to the 1996 HEMS (Health in England: what people know, what people think, what people do), where adults aged 16-74 in England were reinterviewed to see whether their health behaviour had changed in the intervening year. This item summarises highlights from the 1997 report, including: cigarette smoking status and consumption; changes in alcohol consumption; drug use and changes in drug use; participation in physical activity; and changes in eating habits.
