| Annotation | Data on health expectancy in China used in this paper are derived from: the 1987 National Sampling Survey of the Handicapped; the 1987 Sampling Survey of the Elderly (aged 60 and over); and the 1992 Survey on China's Support Systems for the Elderly. The article presents and discusses data on: disability-free life expectancy; duration of older people's healthy life; older people's capacity for self-care; life expectancy free from disease; and an overview of expectancy of healthy life for older Chinese in 1992.
